PETER BUCKLAND
Peter is the owner and director of the Peter Buckland Gallery, representing Canadian contemporary art, with a focus on New Brunswick artists. A former English teacher, now art dealer/consultant, Peter has curated over 100 exhibitions since 1998, and has promoted New Brunswick artists here in New Brunswick and through international art fairs. He has written numerous articles on art during the past decade.
He founded the Saint John Gallery Hops in 2000. He was one of the founding members of the Saint John Community Arts Board in 2002. He co-authored Portraits: New Brunswick Painters in 2009. In 2010 he served as Chair of Saint John 225, Saint John’s year as a Cultural Capital of Canada. He served as Chair of The Originals (2012) and as Vice Chair of Sculpture Saint John in 2012.
Peter Buckland was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal in September 2012 for his work in the arts
Peter lives in uptown Saint John with his wife, Judy Halassy. He is an enthusiastic advocate for community development within the City’s vibrant core.
